Leg-by-leg breakdown

Every conversion in the selected loop, with the taker fee taken off each leg. The last row is what you get back in the quote currency versus what you put in.

Forward vs reverse — which direction pays?

A triangle can only be arbitraged one way at a time: the forward loop's gross multiplier is the exact inverse of the reverse loop's, so if one direction is above break-even the other is below it. This tool computes both and marks the profitable one. The number that decides everything is the break-even fee: the per-leg fee at which the loop returns exactly your stake. Compare it to the fee your account actually pays — if your taker fee is above the break-even fee, the arb is a loss before you even account for slippage. Model that slippage on the price-impact calculator, cut your fee with the maker/taker savings calculator, and compare the delta-neutral alternatives on the cash-and-carry and funding arbitrage tools.

The math

Start with capital C in the quote currency. The forward loop buys Asset 1 (C ÷ P₁), buys Asset 2 with it (÷ P₂, the cross price), then sells Asset 2 back to quote (× P₃). Each of the three trades pays a taker fee f, so the final amount is C × (P₃ ÷ (P₁ × P₂)) × (1 − f)³.

The term in the middle is the loop's gross multiplier M = P₃ ÷ (P₁ × P₂). If M > 1 the loop is profitable before fees. The reverse loop runs the triangle the other way and its multiplier is 1 ÷ M — so at most one direction ever clears. Net profit is final − C, and profit percent is M × (1 − f)³ − 1.

The break-even fee solves (1 − f)³ = 1 ÷ M, giving f* = 1 − M^(−1⁄3). Any per-leg fee above f* turns the loop negative. This is the best case with perfect fills — real results are this figure minus slippage on each leg and the latency between them, which is why sub-percent triangular arbs rarely survive on a retail fee tier.
