Why the drawdown column is the honest one

Every "what if you bought X" headline quotes the endpoint: $1,000 became $8,000. What it never quotes is the middle: the months where that $1,000 was $450 and every headline said the asset was dead. The endpoint return was only available to someone who held through the worst day — so the drawdown isn't trivia, it's the price of admission.

That's why this calculator shows the peak (what you'd have watched slip away if you held past it), the trough (what you'd have had to stare at without selling), and the max drawdown from peak. If the drawdown number makes you flinch, your hypothetical past self would have sold there — and the headline return was never yours.

Two honest caveats: prices are daily closes from Binance spot, so intraday extremes are slightly worse than shown; and coins that listed after your chosen date are computed from their first trading day, which the result will tell you.
