A crypto retirement projection compounds your current holdings plus ongoing contributions at an assumed annual rate over your time horizon. The power is in compounding: small regular contributions over decades dwarf the starting amount. The caveat is that crypto returns are far more volatile and uncertain than traditional assets, so always model a conservative rate and never allocate money you can't afford to see fall sharply.
Crypto can be part of a retirement plan, but its extreme volatility makes it unsuitable as a sole retirement vehicle. Model conservative growth assumptions, diversify, and treat aggressive projections with heavy skepticism.
There's no reliable long-run figure for crypto, and past returns won't repeat. Run the projection with several rates — including a pessimistic one — rather than anchoring to headline bull-market returns.
Compounding means returns earn returns over time, so contributions made early grow the most. Even modest recurring contributions over decades can outweigh a large lump sum added late, which is why time in the market matters.
