How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your starting capital and expected annual return.
  2. Add any recurring contributions and the number of years.
  3. Read the projected wealth and how much came from contributions vs growth.
  4. Adjust the return down to see a realistic, non-bull-market outcome.

The theory behind it

This projection shows how capital grows when returns compound year over year, with optional recurring contributions. It illustrates the two engines of wealth: time and rate of return. Doubling your time horizon usually does more than doubling your contribution, because compounding accelerates. As with any crypto projection, use conservative return assumptions — the math is certain, but the returns are not.

Frequently asked questions

How is compound growth calculated?

Each year your balance grows by the return rate, and the next year grows on the larger balance — returns earning returns. Adding recurring contributions increases the base that compounds. The calculator applies this year by year.

What return should I use for crypto?

No fixed number is reliable; crypto is highly volatile and past performance won't repeat. Model several scenarios, weighting the conservative ones, rather than assuming headline bull-run returns continue.

Do small contributions really matter?

Yes — regular contributions compound alongside your returns, and over long horizons they often contribute more to final wealth than the initial lump sum, especially when started early.
